Why choose this plugin
Two independent donation surfaces, one lightweight plugin, zero WooCommerce dependency. Here is what makes it stand out.
Both gateways with sandbox/live modes and verified webhook signatures. PCI-compliant, no card data ever touches your server.
A slim bar (top or bottom) with a Donate button. Enable/disable without affecting the button shortcode. Fully independent.
[wp_donation_button] works in Elementor, Gutenberg, Classic Editor, widgets, and any template builder, anywhere on your site.
No matter how many bar/button triggers exist, assets load exactly once -- keeping your page fast and footprint minimal.
Scrollable modal overlay resilient to mobile viewport and keyboard resizing. Works on every device and screen size.
Full records: search, filter by status/gateway/date, CSV export, delete. Know exactly where every donation came from.
Donors choose how much to give. Optional name, required email, optional reason, and anonymous checkbox -- all built in.
CSS/JS loads only for the feature present on a page. Disabling the bar stops its assets loading entirely. Zero bloat.
The Stripe card-entry step auto-detects prefers-color-scheme. Looks perfect in light and dark interfaces.
How it works
From installation to your first donation — the whole process takes minutes, not hours.
Upload the wp-donation-bar folder to /wp-content/plugins/ or install via Plugins → Add New → Upload Plugin, then activate.
Go to Donation Bar → Payments and enter your Stripe and/or PayPal credentials. Switch between sandbox and live at any time.
Under Donation Bar → General / Appearance, set your message, colors, position (top/bottom), border radius, and mobile/desktop visibility.
Add [wp_donation_button] anywhere -- post, page, widget, Elementor HTML widget, or Gutenberg block -- with optional per-instance attributes.
Every trigger opens the same secure popup. Donations appear in Donation History with full search, filter, and CSV export.
Sticky donation bar
Enable a sticky bar at the top or bottom of every page. Configure your message, button text, colors, border radius, close button, and show/hide it independently on mobile and desktop. Turning it off does not affect the shortcode button at all.

Donation popup
No matter how many bars or shortcode buttons exist on a page, one modal instance opens — CSS, JS, and payment SDKs load exactly once. The popup collects amount, optional name, required email, optional reason, and an anonymous checkbox.
Standalone button shortcode
A fully independent shortcode button that works in Elementor, Gutenberg, Classic Editor, widgets, and template builders. Customize per-instance via attributes, or set site-wide defaults in the admin. Works whether the bar is on or off.

Frequently asked questions
Does it support both Stripe and PayPal?
Yes. Both gateways are built in with sandbox/live modes. You configure your API keys under Donation Bar → Payments. Stripe uses the Payment Element; PayPal uses the Orders v2 API.
Can I use only the shortcode button without the sticky bar?
Absolutely. They are fully independent. Disable the bar entirely under Settings → General and use only [wp_donation_button] wherever you like.
Does it require WooCommerce or any other plugin?
No. WP Donation Bar is fully standalone. It requires only WordPress 5.8+ and PHP 7.4+.
Can I place the button in Elementor?
Yes. Use the Elementor HTML widget or the Shortcode widget. The plugin also checks _elementor_data postmeta so Font Awesome icons load correctly on Elementor-built pages.
Can donors choose their own amount?
Yes. The popup includes a custom amount input alongside quick-select preset amounts.
Is the plugin mobile responsive?
Yes. The modal uses a scrollable overlay that is resilient to mobile viewport and on-screen keyboard resizing. The sticky bar also has separate mobile and desktop visibility toggles.
Does it support recurring donations?
Not in the current version. WP Donation Bar processes one-time donations via Stripe and PayPal.
Is coding knowledge required?
No. Everything is configurable from the WordPress admin. Developers can also use the wp_donation_bar() function or the [wp_donation_bar] shortcode for precise placement.
